For longer than most of us can ever imagine there have been effective ancient miracle methods commonly called holistic health practices. These are herbal cures and practice remedies that fall under the umbrella of alternative medicine. In the 1700’s bloodletting, purging, and enormous doses of medicines prescribed to patients was the norm. Despite these popular health approaches at the time, a practicing physician, Samuel Christian Hahnemann, author of books on chemistry and medicine adamantly objected to these practices. He had his own theories that centered more on ease than disease. He wanted to focus more on the health of the body and sustaining it rather than, the treatment of ailments. And, Hahnemann who voiced his convictions was not to be detoured. He openly stated, “that amazing changes could result if people would just use plain good sense and focus on the cornerstones of clean living” He advocated – healthy nutrition, better public hygiene and being one with the elements of nature. From a historical perspective, Samuel Christian Hahnemann was the original founder of homeopathy but, the real foundation of this system of medicine came into being with the first major breakthrough which occurred in 1803 in Germany when Friedrich Serturner was able to extract and isolate morphine from the opium poppy. http://www.drvaishnav.com/index.html
To give you just a brief glimpse into the dedication to homeopathic training to this day, read this account from a newspaper article in Mumbai, India who published the following story. Smt. C. M. P. Homoeopathic Medical College completed 50 years of quality homeopathic education in the year 2007. The year 2009 has brought another milestone in the history of the college. In what may possibly be a world record, our college has seven generations of teachers teaching the students of the college at this point of time. This may even qualify it for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records! http://drvaishnav.com/7generations.htm
Alternative medicine covers a broad scope of practices that include, but are not limited to: exercise modalities for the relief of tension such as; deep breathing, meditation and ongoing affirmations. These are just some of the mechanisms mentioned and that are included in a host of holistic applications for restoring mental acuity, emotional stability and physical resilience. Regular participation in routine physical workouts like yoga and Pilates help maintain long-term results.
Alternative medicine is all about permanent shifts in behaviors and putting into practice a new found body of knowledge that we acquire about what positively and negatively affects our bodies and our minds with an emphasis on the more positive influences.
The core idea is to keep the pressures of anxieties we continuously experience from ruining our emotional and our physical well-being. This includes environmental toxins that lead to the deterioration of our physical condition as we go through the rigors of our existence trying to meet the challenges of having to deal with life on life’s terms. Techniques such as visualization and affirmations are another important part of these self-directed healing modalities.
Diet is a major concern as well. To maintain a state of optimum health there must be not only, good food quality, but a balance in our entire systems. We must be extremely mindful of both the “yin and yang energies” – taking note of the mainstays of macrobiotics; in particular –the right types of foods and the appropriate intake of vegetables, fruit, seaweed, whole grains and legumes.
One more aspect of alternative therapies is the consumption of herbal supplements. If carefully selected, they can sharpen our mental focus and aid our memory as well as assist with male function. Aromatherapy energizes the mind and can calm the psyche even, induce restful sleep. Natural fragrances (essential oils) appeal to our senses and lift our moods in unimaginable ways. They can be applied to our skin or added to candles and soaps. Reiki / energy work has the ability to cleanse aura and redirect the flow of energy throughout the body.
Documented research shows that positive psychology, and prayer can accelerate healing from injury and disease. Pressure on certain points realign the body’s vigor; help with joint pain and can alleviate nausea using ancient acupuncture and acupressure techniques.

In some instances a homeopath can help patients with diseases generally considered incurable by conventional medicine but keep in mind that the information you have read here covering this subject is vague and much too general in nature to be a substitute for traditional medical care provided by your own physician or any other related health care professionals.
